Excellent tutorial! But instead of using syrup (which is sticky and unpleasant if you use it all over your costume), I'd recommend using a 50 cent packet of brown gravy. So far, it's the most realistic looking blood I've seen. Just throw in about 2-3 tbsp. of hot water, add a few drops of red food coloring and then go to town with it. It dries quickly and doesn't leave you with that sticky feeling. You could even add a little chocolate syrup to make it look like dried blood and to thicken it up if you don't feel like cooking it over a stove.

I was eating a fantastically awesome sandwich when I saw it and promptly had to stop in mid chew and smile so as to ward off my gag reflex. Fantastically well done! Hopefully there's a costume party in mid January so I can do this!
